History:
In 1968 Bill Erickson, Ed Van Syckle, Art Moline, and Rudy Smeja formed the wire manufacturing company known today as S&D Wire Co. At that time however, the company was called BEAR (an acronym formed from the names of the founders) Specialty Wire.
In 1988 Kelly and Kim Moline, along with Ed Van Syckle, founded Ozark Wire Ltd. in Missouri’s “bootheel”. Within five years the majority of spiral bound blank books in the U.S. were bound with wire manufactured in that mill located in Malden, Missouri.
Because Ozark and S&D were in close cooperation, it was determined that customer confusion could be eliminated by selling under one name. “TechStrand” was formed to serve as the sales arm of both Ozark Wire and S&D Wire. A more cohesive unit was formed for the mutual benefit of both companies.
In 1995 Kelly Moline, Kim Moline, Donald Marshalek and Ed Van Syckle founded Parker Binding Products. “Parker”, a wire forming facility in Bernie, Missouri, utilizes product manufactured at the Ozark Wire mill located just five miles south. The finished product, known as Duo-Lok or double-loop binding, allows the TechStrand group to be the only organization in the world that manufactures all three types of wire bookbinding- stitching, spiral, and double-loop.
